Incredible steaks and sides. Service was amazing and the people were friendly and personable. But the live jazz was the best. We sat right in front of them and the music was just the right volume and the ambiance was awesome.

Visiting KC I looked up best spot for some live jazz and this place popped up. I made a reservation for the jazz supper club. The atmosphere is wonderful, really makes you feel like you're back in time at a speakeasy. My waiter was awesome and welcoming. The band was amazing and really set the tone for the evening. I admit I was overly impressed with my meal. I got the pork belly, had a great flavor but was a little tough. And for $45 would have been nice for it to at least come with a salad or some bread as a starter. In any case overall the whole atmosphere is a must try if you're ever in the area.

What a find! This historic restaurant has live jazz and wait staff that is absolutely top tier! Plus all of the food was absolutely decadent. We went for my birthday and ended up with a great table right by the stage and while it was loud, it was still easy to hold a discussion.

We loved majestic! It might me our favorite steak house in Kansas City. We sat in the basement and the ambiance was reminded me of New York. The live jazz set a romantic mood, but wasn't so loud that you couldn't carry a conversation. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and all of our food came out great! We ordered 2 steaks and they were both excellent with perfect cook. We don't always love dry aged, and they did it the best out of anywhere we've been. The mac and cheese and duck fat fries also did not disappoint! We can't wait to come again next time we're looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion

Grabbed dinner with my family for my brother's birthday at the majestic. We made a reservation since had a large party, but when we got there, it wasn't too busy. The building is fantastic - feels like it is straight out of the 1920s or so. Jazz musicians were playing in the basement when we were there. Our party got a variety of entrees and we ordered some sides to share, family style. My steak was very good - no complaints. I felt like the asparagus wasn't cooked enough and the mushrooms were just fine. Everything else was good. Oh! Get the bread - the butter is comes with is DELISH.

3.5 stars. First things first: the staff here are amazing. In my most recent visit, our server was fantastic and the bussers were, too. Our server had great recommendations and was super personable. That being said - I actually came here a few years ago and had a poor experience. The food was "mid" as the cook kids say. My steak, which I ordered as a medium rare, came out blue. I normally never send food back but when the manager came by and said something about it, I took him up in the offer. It came back very charred. We did not return until recently. I really wanted to experience the jazz music! That didn't disappoint. If you've never gotten to experience a live jazz band while dining, that alone is worth it. The drinks: the old fashioned was just okay. I had the white sangria and it was delicious. The whistle pig sazarec was great. For bread service (it is not free), you get rolls and a selection of butters. The plain butter is flavorless. The cinnamon butter was great. They have a smoked apple butter which I enjoyed but my partner did not - the smoke flavor is strong. We did the cheese plate which wasn't originally explained to us, but we went in blind. Later our server did explain it to us - very helpful! There was an apricot cheese, a sage infused cheese, a Swiss cheese, and a cold Brie. It is served with crunchy toast and an olive tapenade, Cajun aioli, and a corn pico. We had the corn bisque, which was really more of a cream of corn soup - not very thick at all. This needed a lot of salt. We also got the lobster Mac and cheese which was fantastic - tons of lobster flavor throughout. The duck fat Parmesan fries were delicious. We got an extra side of peppercorn cream sauce to dip our fries in, but it was so salty that we didn't end up using it. My steak came out undercooked again, but luckily I was asked to cut into it before eating so identified it quickly. They put it back on the grill. Once it came back, I was still disappointed - it was pretty flavorless aside from an overbearing charred flavor. My partner had the prime rib and it was good but also had a charred flavor. We did not do dessert because we were so full. We would definitely come back for the atmosphere, but not the food.

Great food great service!!! Highly recommend, not cheap eats! Casual dining at its best! Everything was great!!! Just go try it!! Make a reservation, and try to be there just before the piano guy plays at 630p. It is not a jazz trio the day I went. Check to see who is on schedule. Live music is always a great time.

This is such a cool steak house. It has 2 floors each with music. The main floor is bar like with a few highback wooden booths.and a piano player. The downstairs feels speak easy like with a great 3 piece straight ahead Jazz group. Totally a blast to dine and listen to jazz. Great waitstaff and pretty tasty food. Steaks very all in the 85.00 range and include 2 basic sides. As soon as you upgrade your sides and you are adding another 12-15 bucks. If you add a drink or two and maybe 1 dessert with tax and tip you can easily get to 300.00 for two. Just a warning. Steaks were good but not stellar. Still good for a special occasion in you are in downtown KC.

This place is 4.5 stars. During my visit to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to try a lot of different eateries. On this occasion, I wanted to find a "one off" steak house--not part of a chain; not too corporate. "The Majestic" fit the bill. From the street, the building is kempt but doesn't look too special. Inside, there is an attractive bar. A piano player was performing that night, providing mood music. The layout and décor gave the illusion of a different era. My visit took place on a Sunday, so it wasn't too busy. I dined alone at the bar. Service was good. It was slow enough that the bartender was able to tell me a little bit about The Majestic's evolution through the years. For my meal, I ordered: the wedge salad ($5.00); 32-day ribeye, with a baked potato and creamed spinach as my sides ($83.50); and a Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic ($11.00). With tax of $11.92, my ticket was $111.42 before gratuity. The salad was crisp and refreshing. Everything on the plate was arranged well. (A photo is included.) The steak was prepared per request, and the quality of the beef was very good. The size of the potato was appropriate (not too small, not too large). The cream spinach had a very nice texture; the flavoring was good. Kansas City offers a lot of dining options. The Majestic is worthy of consideration. The food was good; the service was good, and I felt the place had nice atmosphere.
